APPLICATIONS FOR THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME 2014 ARE NOW OPEN.
This year we are looking to recruit individuals for both Advanced and Higher Apprenticeship schemes at Cameron Leeds.
Our Advanced Apprenticeship scheme (NVQ 3) is aimed at school leavers 16+ and provides a genuine alternative to college or sixth form, giving the foundations for a career in Engineering Operations.
The Higher Apprenticeship (NVQ 4) is aimed at post sixth form students and will lead to careers in a variety of disciplines including Engineering, Operations, Purchasing and Quality.
Both schemes involve a 4-year program, starting in early September 2014 with the first year held off-site at SkillsXchange, Wakefield College learning new skills in engineering from welding and fabrications to mechanical engineering and technical drawing studying towards the first year of your BTEC.
At the end of the first year you will then come back on-site. In this year you will start work on the shop floor and experience all the different areas departments such as Machining, Assembly, Inspection, Welding and Engineering. Whilst in the second year you will have a day release to attend college to complete the second year of the BTEC.
In the third year of your apprenticeship you will have a good knowledge of the company and the different areas of work, and you will continue to rotate into different areas developing your skills further. It is a requirement that our Apprentices will go on to complete their Higher National Certificate (HNC) and you will also be on a day release to complete the first year of your HNC (Higher National Certificate) in your third year.
Finally you will move in to the fourth year of the apprenticeship. In this final year you will specialise in your chosen area developing all the skills you need to complete your apprenticeship and the second year of the HNC.

For the Advanced Apprenticeship you should have achieved or be expected to achieve 5 GCSE’s at Grades A* to C by September 2014. This must include a grade C or above in Maths, English and Science.
For the Higher Apprenticeship we are looking for post sixth form students with the same academic results as above plus A level qualifications grade A to D

What we offer in return
In return we offer a great package and you will begin your first year on £13,204 rising gradually over your 4 years to a basic salary of over £24,000 on completion of your apprenticeship. You will also receive 25 days holiday per year as well as support within the organisation to allow you to develop and maximise your new skills.

All applications are then assessed against the criteria for the role and if you meet the requirements, you will be invited to an interview on-site at Cameron Leeds followed by an Assessment Centre to be held in July 2014. The Assessment Centre will consist of an interview, group tasks and a plant tour. Successful applicants will attend an induction in August and join in September 2014.
Once the four years are complete you will take up a permanent position within the company and have the opportunity to undertake additional studies if you wish.
